An Economic Assessment of the Contributions of 5G into the Railways and Energy Sectors

This paper presents an economical assessment of the benefits introducing 5G technologies into pilot use cases pertaining to railroad transportation and energy sectors. For each pilots, undergone by EFACEC Engenharia e Sistemas Energia, respectively, under scope H2020 5Growth project, expenditure expected from capabilities over their on-going operations are evaluated regarding Portugal case, also scaled assess European-wide case. The main objective study summarized in this is understand if solutions proposed as a whole, advantageous economic point view. results techno-economic analysis reported show, on European scale, millions euros saved different stakeholders involved deployment solutions.
